WordPress has come a long way – and it shows. As of 2021, according to Search Engine Journal, WordPress is powering around 40% of ALL websites. Just think about that for a minute, you probably have a good idea of how large the internet is these days, right? Now just think, nearly half of those websites out there are built using WordPress – including this one. That’s truly is a massive number of websites.

WordPress comes with pretty basic features, out of the box, which is brilliant because it means you can make your website as simple or as complex as you need to. With over 58,000 free plugins in the WordPress repository alone, you are immediately equipped with an arsenal of modular upgrades to add whatever you need to your site and get the functionality you desire – not to mention the various premium-plugin sites out here all with many plugins in their libraries, that again bumps that number up massively.

Why We Use WordPress?

We think choosing the WordPress eco-system for your website is a no-brainer – for reliability, flexibility, security, ease of use and expandability nothing really comes close. From deep-dive websites with hundreds of pages to E-Commerce stores with thousands of products, or simple start-up sites – WordPress can do it all. For us particularly, WordPress makes our lives as developers and designers a lot easier – which in turn, is great for our clients. Along with WordPress we install a number of other software products with augment the functionality and usability of the site for clients (and us during the building process). These add-ons (similar to installing apps on your phone) save us hours building out layouts and adding code for animations, styles, interactivity etc. These add-ons allow us to utilise the power of WordPress to create some really spectacular and easy-to-use websites. How Do We Manage Our Sites?

One of the great things about WordPress is that it is constantly being updated (again, just like your phone apps) – the regular updates help to increase security and deal with specific threats and also to add new core features. It’s very unlikely WordPress will ever go out of date!

This means that every month (or more frequently – depending on your website support plan) we update your website to the latest version. Our regular updating schedule keeps it in top condition.. which is something Google likes too!

Thanks to a WordPress API we are able to connect all of our websites to a central management system that allows us to easily see any and all of our websites that are in need of updates and/or security patches. This allows us to run the updates easily and without leaving any website behind. Our management system also backs up all of our websites onto its third-party servers, away from our own, so that if the worst should happen and our server is compromised (highly unlikely) then we have a nice and safe backup to restore your website from… Phew! Logging in to view all of our websites and their status is a daily task for us and our management system makes that as easy as can be.

As well as managing your sites we also monitor security this can detect any non-authorised people trying to gain entry to your website. If we detect them we can block them permanently or just for a set period of time. We also monitor the uptime of your website. If your website goes down – we’ll know about it, often before you and can start to investigate why and get you back online quickly and easily.
